The official drummers of Boston's annual Kwanzaa celebration, Jah Jah Drummers is an ensemble of accomplished percussionists of the Caribbean African American black Diaspora. Jah Jah Drummers have been performing in the Boston area since 1996: their combined experience as drummers totaling forty  years.  Jah Jah Drummers have become well known for their dedication to keeping alive the Art of African drummology in the Boston area, by displaying their talent and skills in the different idioms of drummology, on a variety of drums, whenever the opportunity has presented.

 

Shea Rose

Emerging artist and singer-songwriter Shea Rose graduated Berklee College of Music in 2011 and has since been celebrated for her iconic music and style. Rose was dubbed, “America’s next generation of female talent” by Queen Latifah and described by The Boston Globe as “that rare artist who can bridge diverse styles such as soul, funk, rock, rap and jazz -- and bring her unique stamp to each.” Following the release of her first EP, Rock ‘n Rose (2010) and her debut mixtape, Little Warrior (2011), Rose won the “2012 Pop/R&B Artist of the Year” and “2011 R&B/Soul/Urban Contemporary Artist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards and she was named the “artist most likely to make an impact on the national stage” by the Boston Globe. In addition to her music accolades, Rose was named one of the 2012 “Most Stylish Bostonians,” gracing the cover of Boston Globe magazine’s annual style issue. Rose has performed internationally in Athens, Greece, Naples, Italy, Santiago/Havana, Cuba and Kingston, Jamaica.  Off stage, she is dedicated to music for social change, working with local communities through her social outreach initiative, My Angel Wears a Fro, and reaching audiences around the globe with non-profit organization Music2Life.
