Power of the Image: Utilizing the film FIVE STAR as a catalyst for discussion, this Reel Life Experience explores perspectives on the value and influence of music in the urban experience presented in movies and videos. Featured artist Taj Stansberry, Photographer, Author, and Director, shares his artwork and wisdom on creating in today’s music video industry for artists like Rihanna, J Lo, Usher, Ne-Yo, John Legend, and more. Joined by FIVE STAR Producer Daryl Freimark and Actors, John Diaz and James Grant, this panel of creatives helps us to consider: What is the line between artistic vision and artistic responsibility when we are creators of the image?

Film: FIVE STAR

A member of the notorious Bloods since he was 12 years old – both in the film and in real life -- Primo takes John, the son of his slain mentor, under his wing, versing him in the code of the streets. Set in East New York, FIVE STAR blends documentary and fictional storytelling as director Keith Miller carefully avoids worn clichés of gang culture to offer a compelling portrait of two men forced to confront the question of what it really means to be a man.
